What are the requirements for verification proof of institution?
I am submitting an educational qualification in support of my work pass application. What verification proof do i need to provide?
- *RE: CERTIFICATE & INSTITUTION BACKGROUND SCREENING AGENCIES*.
*New Requirement:*
- It is *mandatory to the employers of all Employment Pass (EP) applicants w.e.f. 01-Sep-2023 to get verified* with diploma and higher qualifications by the MOM approved background screening companies.
- *If a verification proof is required for S Pass application, then the employer is to get verified* with diploma and higher qualifications by the MOM approved background screening companies.
*Q: I am submitting an educational qualification in support of my work pass application. What verification proof do i need to provide?*
Employers must ensure that their candidates’ qualifications are authentic and were awarded by accredited institutions.
1️⃣ *If you are applying for ‘Employment Pass (EP) only’, or ‘EP or S Pass’:*
- Diploma and above qualifications declared to MOM will have to be supported with verification proofs to confirm their authenticity.
- Enter the details as they appear on the educational certificate and the verification proof.
- For an awarding institution not found in the list, you must provide, from a background screening company:
- Verification proof of authenticity of the educational qualification, and
- The awarding institution’s accreditation status.
- For a ‘degree equivalent’ professional qualification, please select the recognised qualification level.
- For selected professional occupations (e.g. healthcare), verification proofs from Singapore’s professional bodies are also accepted.
2️⃣ *If you are applying for ‘S Pass only’:*
- Enter the details as they appear on the educational certificate. If a verification proof is required, enter the details as they appear on the educational certificate and the verification proof.
- For an awarding institution not found in the list, you must provide, from a background screening company:
- Verification proof of authenticity of the educational qualification, and
- The awarding institution’s accreditation status.
Authenticity checks confirm that the candidate was awarded the qualification. Accreditation checks confirm the qualification is recognised by the local government authority.
Note: Educational certificates certified by a notary public and school letters are not accepted as a form of verification proof.
*Background screening companies*
MOM will only accept verification proof from the background screening companies listed below. Most verification checks can be completed within 1 to 2 weeks. You can refer to the websites of the selected companies for the countries they cover, cost and processing time of their verification services.
