Cancellation of Employment Pass (EP) In Singapore

You must cancel an Employment Pass (EP) if the pass holder no longer works for you or when the pass expires. You must also discard the cancelled pass card.

At a glance

When to cancel	Depending on which comes first, you must cancel the Employment Pass (EP): Within 1 week after last day of notice; OR 1 day after the Employment Pass (EP) expires. You can submit a cancellation request up to 14 days in advance. (E.g. If you want the pass to be cancelled on 15 February, you can submit the request from 1 February.)
While becoming a PR	You don’t need to cancel the Employment Pass (EP) if the pass holder becomes a Singapore permanent resident. MOM will cancel it automatically.

How much it costs	Free Of Cost (FOC)
How long it takes	Cancellation is immediate, unless you are submitting an advance cancellation request.
Note: If the pass holder has left Singapore permanently, you must cancel the Employment Pass (EP) within one week from the pass holder’s departure date. When the Employment Pass (EP) is cancelled, all related Dependant’s Passes, Long Term Visit Passes (LTVP) and Letter Of Consent (LOC) will also be cancelled.

Before Cancelling

You need to	1) Seek tax clearance from the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS).
	2) Settle all outstanding employment issues, such as paying of salary.
	3) Buy an air ticket to send the pass holder to the international airport in the home country, nearest to the hometown, unless the pass holder agrees in writing to bear the cost.

How to cancel the Employment Pass (EP)

To cancel while the pass holder is still in Singapore	Log in to myMOM Portal. For pass holders who are still in Singapore, you can request for a 60-day Short Term Visit Pass (STVP) to give them a valid stay in the meantime.
To cancel while the pass holder is still in Singapore	The pass holder and you will both receive the STVP by email. The pass holder needs to show the STVP and a valid passport to the immigration officer when leaving Singapore.
To cancel while the pass holder has left Singapore	Log in to myMOM Portal. Cancel the Employment Pass (EP).

Discard the old pass card

The card is to be cut	You must cut the old work pass card in half upon successful cancellation.
Purpose of cutting the card	The purpose of cutting the old work pass card in half is to prevent any misuse.

How do I check if an EP is cancelled?

You can check if an Employment Pass is cancelled by checking the validity of the pass. You don’t need to log in for this.
