Childcare Leave In Singapore

If you have children under 7 years old, find out your eligibility and entitlements for childcare leave and how you can take your leave. You may also be eligible for extended childcare leave for a child aged 7 to 12 years.

  • Eligible working parents of Singapore citizen children are entitled to 6 days of paid childcare leave per year. Parents of non-citizens can get 2 days of childcare leave a year in accordance with the Employment Act.
  • If you are entitled to 6 days of childcare leave a year, your childcare leave can be pro-rated according to how long you have worked.
  • If you are a part-time, temporary, contract or probationary employee, your childcare leave entitlement is adjusted based on your working hours.
  • You can take childcare leave to spend time with your child for any reason. However, there are restrictions on using the leave; for example, you cannot transfer your leave to your spouse or encash your unused leave.
  • You may be entitled to 2 days of extended childcare leave every year if your youngest child is in primary school.
  • Use the calculator (available at MOM website) to check if you are eligible for childcare leave and how much leave you are entitled to at www.mom.gov.sg
