Who is responsible for paying for work pass holder’s COVID-19 treatment?

Who should bear the treatment expenses for COVID-19 for my work pass holders?

My employee was diagnosed with COVID-19 in the first 14 days of their arrival in Singapore. Am I required to pay for their medical bills?

All new and existing pass holders entering Singapore from 1 January 2021 will not have their treatment costs covered by Singapore Government if they develop COVID-19 symptoms or test positive within 14 days of arrival in Singapore.

Employers of Work Permit and S Pass holders are responsible for the COVID-19 treatment costs. They should ensure that the workers have insurance coverage of at least $10,000 for their medical expenses if they develop COVID-19 symptoms or test positive within the first 14 days of arrival in Singapore.

For locally transmitted cases, the Government will no longer bear the costs of COVID-19 treatment for those who remain unvaccinated by choice from 8 December 2021.

Individuals who are vaccinated and those who are not medically eligible to be vaccinated will continue to have their COVID-19 treatment costs covered by the Government if they are infected in Singapore.
