Who is eligible for Employment Pass?

In:

The Employment Pass allows foreign professionals, managers and executives to work in Singapore who:

  • Have a job offer in Singapore.
  • Work in a managerial, executive or specialised job.
  • Have acceptable qualifications, usually a good university degree, professional qualifications or specialist skills.

Application for an Employment Pass is open to all nationalities.

Note on salaries:

  • Employment Pass (EP): The Employment Pass (EP) allows foreign professionals, managers and executives to work in Singapore.

Candidates need to earn at least $4,500 a month for all Sectors with effective from 01-Sep-2020 and have acceptable qualifications.

Candidates need to earn at least $5,000 a month for Financial Sector with effective from 01-Dec-2020 and have acceptable qualifications.

The criteria for older and more experienced EP candidates has been increased w.e.f. 01-May-2020, for example, an EP applicant in his early 40s will need to earn around double the new minimum qualifying salary for all Sectors.

EP renewals will be subject to the new salary requirement only with effect from 01-May-2021 to moderate the impact on businesses.

Employment Pass holders can apply for Permanent Residence in Singapore.

Note on acceptable qualifications:

  • There is no list of approved institutions. Instead, MOM evaluates each application on its own merit, based on a wide range of criteria such as global and country rankings, and enrolment standards.
  • Candidates without acceptable qualifications may not necessarily be rejected. Similarly, having acceptable qualifications does not guarantee approval.
  • MOM looks at other factors such as proven track records and exceptional skill sets on a case-by-case basis.
