Stages of Work Permits upon arrival in Singapore?
Before Applying:
- Know Work Permit requirements by sector
- Know your quota and levy
- Declare business activity (For first-time employers)
- Apply for in-principle support (For Process maintenance)
Before Arrival in Singapore:
- Apply for Work Permit
- Apply for housing pre-entry check
- Book a slot for onboarding centre for migrant workers
- Send the In-Principle Approval (IPA) at least 3 days before arrival
- Send the Employment Contract and get the acceptance of it
- Send the Terms & Conditions for Stay Home Notice (SHN) (if applicable) and get the acceptance of it
- Buy Security Bond (Insurance Companies will update the MOM system automatically)
- Buy Medical Insurance and submit details
- Register for Primary Care Plan (PCP) for eligible workers through MOM’s approved Anchor Operators
- Buy Work Injury Compensation Insurance (WICI)
- Register the worker for Settling-In Programme (SIP)
Upon Arrival in Singapore:
- Send the worker directly to migrant worker onboard centre where medical exam also will take place
- Send the worker to attend Settling-In Programme (SIP)
- Register workerβs accommodation address
- Check whether any professional body’s specific approval is required
- Get the Work Permit issued
- Register fingerprints and photo
- Receive the Work Permit card
Monthly:
- Pay theΒ Foreign Worker Levy (FWL)
- FWL is to be paid by GIRO (mandatory)
As and when required:
- Notify MOM of any changes
- Apply for levy waiver
- Renew the Work Permit
- Replace the Work Permit
- Cancel the Work Permit
