Employers are already responsible for ensuring the authenticity and quality of the educational qualifications of the candidates they wish to hire.
From 1 September 2023, employers submitting new Employment Pass (EP) applications will need to verify their candidatesβ diploma-level and above qualifications. The verification can be done through selected background screening companies, which will be listed on MOMβs website.
Alternatively, MOM will also accept verification proof obtained from online portals of countriesβ governments or educational institutions.
The verification requirement for renewal of existing Employment Passes (EPs) will be implemented from 1 September 2024.
The employer should bear the cost / charges of verification of certificates of the foreign employees/candidates.
